Hundreds of BulSUans’ attention was caught by the College of Arts and Letter’s Performing Arts Division Dance and Music’s (PAD DM) flash mob around Bulacan State University (BulSU) grounds, December 9.
In line of the 111th year founding week celebration of the university, many booths appear consecutively in the different areas of BulSU including the Otwol Café, the reason behind PAD DM’s flash mob.
The Otwol Café opened last Thursday December 10 to 11 from 9 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon with the theme of Café na humuhugot and there was a sing and dance and other live performances prepared for the audience.
In order to estimate their target customers, they decided to sell tickets right before their cafés opening day with a free food and drinks worth 50 pesos and they released and sold for almost 100 o 150 tickets.
The rehearsals of the said flash mob started last Saturday and according to Arabelle S. Benedictos, PAD DM’s vocal head, they encountered some hardships due to their one day rehersal but because of the good commitment of the members, they did a great job. “Nahirapan din kami kasi maikli lang yung time pero dahil sa unity ng bawat isa, natapos naman namin,” she said.
According to Mike Efren Cernias of BAB 2B, currently the stage manager and lead choreographer of PAD DM, the main puropose of the flash mob is to promote their café and their organization. “To promote the café at para makilala ng university yung mga college organizations na hindi masyadong kilala,” he said.
