Meralco Bolts Narrowly Won Against Globalport Batang Pier by 86-84

Meralco Bolts’ import Josh Davis hit the game-winning shot at the buzzer with the score of 86 and demolished Globalport Batang Pier with notch up of 84 at MOA Arena, Pasay City last February 15, 2015; Sunday night.

Davis asked for the last to be given to him after Ronjay Buenafe of Globalport hit a three-pointer against the defense of Anthony to tie the game at 84. Sean Anthony of Meralco inbounded the ball to Davis with 2.7 seconds left with the count tied 84.

“He asked me ‘run the play with me and I will make the shot.’ As a coach, you don’t have a choice. Your best player is asking for it,” Said Meralco coach Norman Black.

Meralco is now 5-0 (win-lost) while Globalport is now 2-3. Davis scored 33 points, 24 rebounds and 5 steals. Gary David added 22 points off the bench for the Bolts. Meralco’s 5-0 record is the best start to a conference in franchise history.
